Stocksbridge Food Bank

The Stocksbridge Food Bank has moved to The Christian Centre at

1 Cedar Road in Stocksbridge, opposite the Spar supermarket.

It will still be open on Tuesdays (10-12) on Thursdays (10-12).

On Tuesdays (10-12) the Citizens Advice Bureau has a worker at Food Matters to offer advice and support to people in food poverty or in debt. (But not for the full range of CAB services, which can be accessed through the CAB website at http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk )

On Thursdays (10-12) IMFIT, which deals with tenants having difficulty with their rents, both Council and Private, has a worker at Food Matters to offer advice and help to people struggling with their rent payments.

The Food Bank holds food that has been freely donated to issue to people in urgent need. It is not an ongoing support for food.

You do not need a referral to come to the Food Bank. Just come along and we will listen to you and see how we can help you.

If you want to refer a person to the Food Bank, please ring the co-ordinator on 07912 609 791.

Community Outlet

As well as the Food Bank, we have now opened a Community Outlet. This bring food that the supermarkets no longer are planning to sell. They send it to us, and allow us to issue food for a donation .

The Community Outlet is for anyone.

We ask for £5 a year to be a member for a year. Then at each visit you can have 20 items for a £3 donation.

If you want to know more, best to ring the Co-ordinator, Martin Price, on the Food Bank mobile phone which is 07912 609 791.

Opening times are Tuesday 10-12 and Thursday 10-12.

We are working on new development plans, (including for the new website!), and you can read a copy of our new project ideas here:
